RTCP follow up commission – A new challenge

Yesterday, a new stage of my career and life began. I went on the first of many visits to the Portuguese Network of Theaters and Cine theaters (RTCP in Portuguese). I am glad to say that I am part of the Commission appointed by the Portuguese Arts Council (DGArtes) to follow up with the current 39 theaters that make up the network, and that were funded by the DGArtes for cultural programming. I will be traveling regularly to each, having meetings with the local teams, and attending moments of their programming. I will also report on the findings, hoping to contribute to bettering each project.

The first visit was to Leiria, a city about 140 Km from Lisbon. The theater I visited is called José Lúcio da Silva, after a city benefactor. I can’t go into the details of the visit for confidentiality reasons, but I can say that this is a very nice theater, seating over 700 people, and with regular programming.

These visits aim to establish a close relationship with the theaters and teams involved. It is my hope to be able to contribute to the strengthening of  a true network, and to elevate the Portuguese cultural offer.

It is my intention to post about every theater I visit, at least a picture and a few sentences. We’ll see how this goes.
