With the development of the web and of broadband, many new projects were made possible. One I found recently is the “Epidemic Tracker”, an interactive mapping and visualization tool, created by the Johns Hopkins University (USA).
You can, for example, follow the evolution of the Corona Virus around the world, with details on countries affected, number of cases detected, and death toll.
There are, at the moment 139 active epidemics being tracked.
This is a very useful took for curious minds, but also for scientists, who can have a broad look at the global panorama, and influence their plan of investigation.
