Money Management online

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Being a person who, as hard as I try, can not save money and wonders where it all goes, any site that could help me with this is a godsend.

There is a Portuguese project , called WeSpendMoney. The promise:
- Keep track of your expenses and incomes
- Easy to use ajax interface
- Plan your expenses in time
- View Statistics on what you spend
- Search, tag and comment everything
- Share with your wife, your kids, your roommates….

It’s quite a promise. The project has been delayed, but I’m hoping the development team will be successful and give us a great app.

mint
In the meantime, in the USA, mint was launched apparently very successfully. They won TechCrunch4.0 and things are looking good. Too bad it is US centered, although plans are being made to support international accounts.

User Experience: Conducting Successful Interviews With Project Stakeholders

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

This is always a question I come accross when starting a new project: How to approach the stakeholder(s)? I tend to vary, according to my knowledge of the person, from formal to relaxed, but always maintaining a high level of professionalism.

This article by Steve Baty offers several guidelines on how to conduct a successful interview with with project stakeholders, that include:

  • Leave at least 30 minutes between interviews
  • Limit an interview to just three or four major topics
  • Talk about culture, challenges, and goals, not features
  • Be prepared for your interviews

Worth a read.

Eco-friendly Products

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Part of the Thirty Day Challenge, I created a blog about an issue that I am interested in: Eco-friendly Products. It could have been anything, but I might as well choose something of interest. I have been learning with Ed Dale’s lessons, and following almost all advice, though not all. There is indeed a lot to be learned about Internet Marketing. More on this when I finish my education :)

Rebooting

Astonish me
Did I mention I took 3 whole weeks off? This worked last year, and worked again this year. It’s a real shame it wasn’t 3 whole months. Then I’d really not go back to work. This not being the case, at least on Monday I’ll be there. It’s amazing how some time off can put so many things under a new and lighter perspective. That and what you do of course. So thanks to you, and you, and you ;-)

ToDo:

  • Finish the Thirty Day Challenge, even though it’s officially over.
  • Learn Ruby On Rails
  • Plan my future (better yet… DO my future)

Have fun, and keep your mind open… I’ve been to Amsterdam, but no Magic Mushrooms for Mr. Mendes here. No sir. As the girls say “free your mind and the rest will follow”.
